UGANDA: BREAKING NEWS (AMURU DISTRICT BOYCOTS THE ON GOING MEASLES RUBELLA VACCINATION)

Michael Lakony, the Amuru District Chairman rubbishes the current Measles Rubella vaccination, saying the Government of Uganda is using this as a double approach in looking for funding

Major Okot Santo Okot Lapolo, Gulu Residence District Commissioner described the situation as alarming.

AMURU-UGANDA:  Michael   Lakony Amuru District Local Chairman of Local Government Councilor V, while talking to Oyeng Yeng News desk today has confirmed that the community of Apaa Village numbering about 26,000 people turn down the Measles Rubella Vaccines from Adjumani District on the ground that the government of Uganda has clandestine motives to kill their children.

He however added that the communities of Apaa have boycotted Measles Rubella vaccine from Adjumani on the ground of being suspicious on Government plan since they are using the measles vaccine to kill their children. Currently Apaa village is considered by government of Uganda as part of the area in Adjumani District. Of which the official from the ministry of Local Government, ministry of Planning placed a mark stone covering 27squre kilometers to be part of Adjumani District.

“Right now the District Health Officials from Amuru District has dispatched 10 carton of Measles Rubella Vaccine to Apaa community; we have enough Measles Vaccines for Apaa community. “ Chairman Lakony reiterates.

Amuru District Chairman argues that he is not certain that the Government means well for the people of Apaa, the Measles Rubella cases have been confirmed in the district of Amuru, especially in the areas of St. Mary Hospital Lacor, Akuru Kwee the near by village to Lacor Hospital, and Bi-bia near Uganda-South Sudan, but that is politics.

Uganda government the way it is running the country, we as the people of Northern Uganda believes that the Government wants to alienate our community. Northern Uganda has been having quire diseases like Hepatitis B, Nodding syndrome disease which came out after polio vaccination and many other immunizations, Lakony warns.

“I have questioned the Officials from World Health Organization during the high level meeting discussing the authenticity of Measles Rubella outbreak in Acholi sub region, the official from World Health Organization who he did not disclose his name was quoted by Amuru District Chairman to confirm that no attempt has been made to infect children, but Lakony says he has doubt.

He says the government of Uganda has been using cases of epidemic outbreak to lobby for funding, citing Ebola case which was suspected outbreak in Western Uganda, in the district of Kasesese when there was only one Ebola victim who came from Eastern Republic of Congo, Lakony revealed

“The government used one Ebola case in Western Uganda to lobby fund which there was no cases of Ebola in Kasesese Areas.” Lokony warns. The donor fund which was got for Ebola was used for other things as the same for the measles money was used for other developments.

Lakony appeals to Doctors and Professors from Acholi Sub Region to come out with reports indicating that there is measles rubella in Acholi sub Region.

Okot John one of the caller of Radio Mega FM, yesterday says in 2016 when he was in Western Uganda, Hepatitis B, vaccination was carrying on in Acholi Sub Region, although the ministry of Health were saying that the vaccine was countrywide, there was no vaccination taking place in Buganda and Ankole Sub Regions.

Okot questioned the motives of vaccination of measles rubella in Acholi sub region. “Let the government come out and tell us their scientific findings, otherwise this is a ploy.” Okot warns.

Major Okot Santo Lapolo Gulu Residence Commissioner dismisses claims of the Amuru community who alleged that the measles rubella vaccine from Adjumani is meant to kill people.

“I want to deal with the person who called Mega Radio station discouraging people, and the Apaa people as mad.” Major Lapolo said.
