A recent online article, authored by Nancy Nwadire Onek, has unfortunately spread misleading information and defamatory claims regarding access to the grave site and management of the estate of the late Inspector General of Police, Erinayo Wilson Oryema. Laden with inaccuracies, this article alleges unauthorized access and estate mismanagement, ultimately disrespecting the IGP’s legacy and misleading the public.

The administration of IGP Erinayo Wilson Oryema’s estate was lawfully entrusted to Gertrude Auma Oryema one of the daughters of the late IGP, who has managed it with dedication and integrity. As the estate’s rightful custodian, her commitment leaves no grounds for accusations of mismanagement or restricted access. Such claims are baseless and disregard the lawful, structured oversight of the estate.

By law, IGP Erinayo Wilson Oryema’s children have the right to visit his grave site to honor his memory. Their access is a protected familial right and should not be misrepresented as “unauthorized gatherings.” Allegations against former LC1 chairman Odoki Charles of Tangi Ward are similarly unfounded, as these so-called “gatherings” were simply family visits by Oryema’s children, exercising their lawful rights.

The article further misrepresents the estate entitlements of Nancy Nwadire Onek, also known as Nancy Oryema. As a granddaughter, Nancy is not a primary beneficiary of the estate. Her father, Onek Henry a primary beneficiary, had already liquidated assets tied to his inheritance. Nancy’s recent assertions of primary beneficiary rights lack legal grounds and misrepresent the estate’s established inheritance structure by her uncharacteristic behaviors. Allegedly influenced by her husband, a Nigerian national, Nancy’s actions have reportedly strained family relations for potential personal gain. Such interference has caused friction within the family and diminished the legacy the Oryema family holds within the community and Uganda at large. It is recommended that Nancy instead pursue her entitlements through her marriage in Nigeria.

Reports indicate Nancy has even used anti terrorism police officers to assert undue control over the estate, and using official police Van and reportedly preventing access to IGP Oryema’s grave site by his rightful heirs while seeking to back her claims with police support. Additionally, Nancy is said to be renting parts of the estate to certain Indian investors and other local tenants, raising concerns about the true intentions behind her involvement.

It is essential to recall Civil Suit No. 39 of 2010, in which the court resolved all matters related to the estate’s administration. This ruling is the final authority on the estate, and any attempt to dispute it now disregards the court’s decision and disrespects the judicial process and any news papers or social media purporting to be protecting Nancy and the interest of the late IGP risks being sued for the same.

In light of these groundless allegations, it is crucial to reaffirm the lawful access and responsible management of IGP Erinayo Wilson Oryema’s estate. Misinformation of this nature misleads the public and undermines the court’s authority. Respecting these established legal decisions is vital, and narratives that contradict them harm the family’s honor and the legacy of Uganda’s first IGP and with this article the public should resists from claims that theirs fight over the first IGP Estate its just because of a misguided missile and luck of proper information that Nancy has got to taint the family name and legacy.
