Dr. Daiel Komakech Gulu University Don is planning to take UPDF to ICC on Apaa Killing
Politics is being played like football, Apaa land issue has been tribalized by the international community and Government of Uganda as: “tribal conflict between the Acholi and Madi communities”. Yet Madi people have no problem with Acholi since both are living cordially in the everyday interactions and relationship.
However, new evidence emerged that there is a group of Ugandan state apparatus moving in Apaa market picking national identity cards from the locals, before asking them to sign for UGX 10 million.
GULU-UGANDA: Dr. Daniel Komakech, the Deputy Director of Gulu University Research Institute noted that if Acholi had followed the guidance of; Col. Ochora Walter former Gulu district Chairman, Obol Ochola renowned Acholi lawyer, Otema Allimadi former Uganda Premier, Obonyo Lindo former leader of Opposition in the Obote I regime, Gen. Okello Olara, and Thomas Apilla former Kitgum RDC Apaa land question would have ceased to exist.
According to Komakech, the kind of leadership in Acholi today are more of war mongers, since most of them joined politics during the Lord’s Resistance Army insurgency.
“To know that these leaders are war mongers, most of their cards are played against the president instead of tackling the real problem, all they want is to portray Museveni as bad leader. This kind of cards they are playing is not strategic since the president is always outsmarting them.” Said Komakech
He adds that as a result of playing bad cards, these leaders and their followers when arrested are put behind police vehicles, or taken to unknown destinations.
“If we were diplomatic enough like the late Obonyo Jino, we would not be shouting that the ‘Sebogabo’, Museveni tyranny is flying all over our land. But we would lay strategy that combats Museveni’s act of marginalizing Acholi Sub-Region. According to my own opinion, each household in the Apaa parish should be made to contribute at least UGX 10,000 in order to buy tractors to develop the area.” He adds
The academic Don further argues that when the locals are cautioned against selling their lands, the question becomes that are they poor? And that when the leaders are saying people should not sell their land, it becomes stupid. Therefore the locals should become wise and emulate the legendries like; Elija Latim, Wilson Lutara, Lord Andrew Adimola and many others who had big farmlands.

“I want to tell the president Museveni who is playing ignorance of Madi and the West Nile issues, the military convoys moving in the government vehicles at night. Because you allow them to hold guns, they will become security issues. These military convoys on the ground tell me that those people are ‘Lutugu’, and ‘Bari’ from Sudan, they do not pay allegiance to the Uganda constitution.” Komakech reasoned.
He further more argues that the politics of 1972 when degazzatment of Kilak and East Madi Game hunting ground was done by President Amin, he gave the land to his puppets like: Gen. Moses Ali, Gen. Mustapa Adrisi, Col Malyamungu, Wilson Lutara and others. While common men in the villages were thinking that the land was given as a hunting ground for them.
He adds that on Apaa, the whole President Museveni and other top army commanders were shocked to know what was going on in Apaa. And that the biggest problem is; there is no law, the land the top officials in Museveni’s government have grabbed has gone beyond Apaa.
While addressing media in Gulu, Dr. Komakech noted that the Apaa land question is very deep and emerging bigger day and night, something that the Acholi Agenda should come out to address.
