FORMER OMORO MP, SIMON TOLIT AKECAH SEND TO LOCAL PRISON IN GULU

 

Hon. Simon Tolit Akecah the former Omoro County MP has been arrested by Uganda Electoral Commission for defaulting to pay the bill of cost

GULU-UGANDA: The former MP for Omoro Simon Tolit Akecah has been sent to Prison, Gulu Local Central Children Rehabilitation for failure to pay the Uganda Electoral Commission. Tolit Akecah have dragged Jacob Oulanyah and Uganda Electoral Commission when he lost the Omoro County polls in 2011.

Olanya Stephen and Court Bailiff on Monday April, 29, arrested Tolit Akecah from Awere Center Ajan village at dawn, he was charged in Gulu High Court and remanded.

Olanya says Tolit Akecah has failed to pay Uganda Electoral Commissioner UGX 33 million together with their court Bailiff cost of UGX 18 million.

the arrest of Hon. Akecah has caused storm in Odek Sub County and Omoro District as many callers has been adamantly calling Jacob Oulanyah demanding for his immediate release Gulu Prison.

Opiyo Santo from Odek one of the callers says the person behind the arrest of the former Omoro MP, is none than the Deputy Speaker Jacob Oulanyah.

“We know that Oulanyah is behind of his arrest, because Tolit Akecah stood with him in 2011, and was the only person who made the petition against the duo.” Opiyo decries.

However, Ben Acellam the Political Assistance for Oulanyah has denied that the Omoro MP, Jacob Oulanyah is not behind Tolit arrest.

“We have been recieving a numbers of calls since yesterday Monday, April 29, when Akecah was arrested. But Oulanyah has not asked Gulu High Court demanding for his bill of cost.” Acellam repeatedly said.
