People Power Youth Chairperson ‘’Bosmic Otim’’ Arrested in Gulu
Otim was picked on Monday afternoon from Cereleno market in Pece division by heavily armed police officers under the command of John Bosco Nyangkol, the Officer in-charge of Gulu Central Police Station.
Police have arrested the People Power Youth Chairperson for Northern Uganda William Otim alias Lucky Bosmic Otim for staging illegal assembly.
Otim was picked on Monday afternoon from Cereleno market in Pece division by heavily armed police officers under the command of John Bosco Nyangkol, the Officer in-charge of Gulu Central Police Station.
Otim who is also a renowned artist was later whisked to Gulu Central Police Station where he is being detained on charges of staging illegal assembly.
Nyangkol said in an interview from Gulu CPS that Otim was arrested while addressing vendors and youths at Cereleno Market along Ring Road in Pece Division Gulu Municipality.
He further explains that Otim is also battling another case of staging unlawful assembly at Gulu Main Market on 4th of June this year vide 32/04/06/2019.
The file was sanctioned and two of his colleagues Denis Bongomin and Moses Okello were arrested, charged and remanded to Gulu Prisons while Otim was still on the loose.
Otim survived arrest by police after being shielded by crowds that were attending the rally. The group were protesting the endorsement of President Yoweri Museveni`s sole candidature for presidency in 2021.
One of the People Power supporters on Monday said from Gulu Central Police Station on condition of anonymity that they were rallying people to attend a rally that was going to addressed by Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine and Francis Zake the Jinja East Member of Parliament today in Gulu.
