GULU CITY-TUESDAY, March 23, 2023. Misty weather and murky cloud cover the Gulu City, following heavy downpour that started at 10.00PM till 4.00AM local time last night in Gulu City have left. However, at 10.30 AM ruddy NRM youths led by Lapyem Thomas, a renowned court broker, cum lawyer stormed the office of Gulu City Residence Commission to tendering in their petition to President Yoweri Museveni.

The youths say president Museveni failed to gives them scholarship, irate youths shouted, “President Museveni did not keep his promised, did not honored his promised he made to NRM Acholi Sub Region during his visit, Museveni says state house will provide for us scholarship during his last leg to Acholi Sub Region last month, January 23.24, 2023.” Mavic youths shouted.

To H.E President Kaguta Yoweri Museveni, the president of the Republic of Uganda and NRRM National Chairman.

Your Excellency Sir.

Cognisant to the services provided by the government and the Non-Governmental Organizations in Uganda through the support to the youths within Northern Uganda particularly the ones that operated within Acholi Sub Region. The youths in Acholi are with multidisciplinary professionals, none professionals and school going youths committed to making a difference in the lives of the people in Northern Uganda who are largely survivors f crimes and human rights atrocities directed towards them during the LRA war and in the responses to Educational Support in term of scholarships, providing legal Aid Services, reparation for victims of war.

Human rights violations, psychosocial support, capacity building, research and consultation services to the people of Northern Uganda, we are mindful and believe we shall move forward.

Committed: the NRRM CONCERNED YOUTHS IS COMMITTED TO ENSURING ACCESS TO FREE Education, Access to justice for all by over twenty years of conflict. The Youths are committed to search for Education support, capacity building for informal and formal justice mechanisms according to the guidelines set forth in the Peace Recovery and Development Programmes to ensure accountability, reparations and rehabilitation of northern Uganda.

Realizing: that PRDP Programmes little or nothing was done on the peace recovery, but the government concentrated on the Development Programmes like the roads, and others leaving the people of northern Uganda to suffer with trauma and psychosocial problems.

Therefore, there is need to strengthen trust and cooperation and prevent current and future conflicts by the government supporting, comprehensive and free Educational, comprehensive legal advice and counselling, and the provision of legal aid services, as well as to raise awareness on human rights and peaceful resolution methods for communities in northern Uganda.

We hereby resolved that to consolidate NRM in power for many more years, the younger persons should be educated because when you’re educated you can do much better. For the start 1000 scholarships sponsorship would not be bad for the youths who are willing and qualified for their Universities studies for both Undergraduate and master programs and the selection shall be done by us in a fair and proper manner.

This petition runs for 10 days, failure to resolve our prayers we shall mobilize the younger persons to denounce your government.
