In solidarity,

Hi Okumu,
On Saturday, we marched. On Monday, Donald Trump took office.
The contrast couldn’t be clearer. Where the march embodied hope, unity, and determination, Trump’s second inauguration signals the beginning of even more regressive policies that threaten sexual and reproductive health, rights and justice (SRHRJ) worldwide.
This is not just a U.S. issue — it’s a global crisis. The impacts of these policies ripple far beyond borders, deepening inequalities, restricting access to care, and emboldening anti-rights movements worldwide. But the People’s March in the U.S. proved something vital: when we unite in solidarity, we are an unstoppable force.
On Monday, our movement also lost Cecile Richards, one of the most fearless advocates for reproductive freedom who led our U.S. Member Association (MA), Planned Parenthood Federation of America, for 12 years. Facing the challenges ahead of us, we are honoring her legacy in the best way we know how — standing together, stronger than ever, to continue this fight.

A Global Stand for Rights
As Trump’s administration begins implementing policies like the withdrawal from the World Health Organization, attacks on trans rights, or the impending expanded Global Gag Rule — which cuts essential funding to SRHR initiatives — our work becomes even more urgent. The challenges ahead are vast, but so is our movement.
Together, we can counter these attacks by:
Taking action locally and globally: From rural clinics in Sudan to advocacy campaigns in Europe, our MAs and partners are already on the ground, providing care and building resistance.
Amplifying stories across borders: We will share the lived experiences of those most affected by these policies, from young women denied access to contraception to LGBTQI+ communities facing increased stigma.
Strengthening the global network: This movement thrives on collaboration. By learning from one another and mobilizing together, we will stand strong in the face of rising authoritarianism.
Holding leaders accountable: Whether it’s opposing the rollback of abortion rights in the U.S. or challenging regressive foreign policies globally, we will keep fighting for equity and justice.
From Protest to Progress
This past weekend showed us the continued power of global solidarity, but it also reminded us of the road ahead. Sunday was a declaration: we will not stand by while rights are stripped away. Monday was a challenge: to turn this energy into sustained action.
No matter where you are in the world, your voice matters. Your commitment matters. Together, we can ensure that these challenges strengthen, rather than divide, our movement.
COMMIT TO ACTION TODAY
The stakes are high, but history shows us that progress is made by those who refuse to give up. Let’s move forward together, toward a future where everyone, everywhere, has access to the care and freedom they deserve.
