UGANDA: WESTERN WORLD SEE MUSEVENI AS RAY OF HOPE IN GEO-POLITICS.
I believe the Western Power are still committed to support a viable alternative to Museveni, because of his advanced age and deteriorating health , they know he cannot go for more than 10 years in power eventually, nature has to take it own course.
KAMPALA-UGANDA: Norbert Mao the current Chairman of Inter Political Party Organizations, the leader of Democratic Party when asked about President Museveni, it seems he is still in good book with Western World. What is it likely to happen in 2021 Uganda General Election if he is still going to be backed by the USA and the UK?
Why are you not being trusted by the Geo-political leaders in the Great Lakes Region and beyond? What is your takes on that?
Norbert Mao: Before any foreign powers decide to give any support, they have to consider many factors. The first factor is whether local political groups have interest in line with the interest of political power.
“Politics can be about value and interest” Mao argued.
Secondly, whether the incumbent regime that need to be overthrown, is or among it’s interest.
Thirdly, whether the local political groups is viable in terms of origination strategy and leadership. So, when you look at President Museveni, he has been extremely complying with the interest of foreign power.
“Is a good Nyampara”, Uganda is in a volatile state currently; the volatility is also match with abundant of national resources. I have engaged with many foreign key makers specially in Germany, United Kingdoms, France and the U,S,A”
They all told me they consider Uganda to be an anchor state in the Great Lakes Region of Africa, they see Uganda as stabilizing factors in Great Lakes Region.
So, President Museveni’s agenda to militarized power in the Great Lakes Region with support from the Western Power has been intervened decisively in Congo, both South Sudan and the main stream Sudan, Somalia, Rwanda, Burundi and even he has troops in Guinea Bissau and Central Republic of Africa.
Adding that, the Western Power sees him as an effective sub-constructor and enforcer of their neo- imperialist ambition. In other words, he has build an asset , than when they look at an alternatives namely the opposition parties who are viewed as disorganized , unfocused and unviable groups.
He further says, supporting the opposition parties to them, does not grantee the fall of the “Obii Bii lawange 12” literally meaning tyranny Museveni. So, they rather preferred to stick with the devil they know.
President Museveni is serving their interest; he has firm grime on power, and to alternatives is like telling disarray. But at the same time, it is true that they are aware that supporting Museveni whose regime is extremely corrupt and dominated by the first family members who are general lacking democratic legitimacy is a risky business.
The Western Power opted for the opposition parties to shape up in 2006 and 2011 respectively, but the opposition Parties failed to fulfilled the western power’s demand.
The Conservative in the UK supported Dr. Kizza Besigye’s campaign substantially in 2016, Obama and David Cameron linked behind the scenes supporting Kofi Annan’s attempt to get Dr. Kizza and John Patrick Amama Mbamzi (JPAM) to agree to work together and kick out Museveni out of power.
Unfortunately the two big equals could not agreed, now the western powers sight that Museveni is the political rays of hope in Uganda. Various left wing groups in the Western World have embraced him giving him the national media exposures.
Norbert Mao asserts that, he believes the Western World is still committed to support viable alternatives to Museveni’s regime, because of his advanced age and deteriorating health. They know; he cannot last for more than 10 years in power, eventually nature has to takes it own course.
And they also know that the National Resistance Movement (NRM) party is not a viable organization, it’s a one man show. So, whatever they are doing is to ensure that Uganda is to have a stable transitional transfer of power.
Therefore, whoever has a good plan to grantee a stable transition would be an ally to the foreign powers.
Mao alluded that his party is in touch with the western world, but he does not have to disclose it publically.
“I am very must in touch with keys decision makers, especially in German and the USA, they played their part to build unity front in this country”
In fact, it is better for us to surprise Museveni with last minute announcement of coalitional opposition party the same way the Kenyan Opposition surprised Arab Mio in the 90’s.
President Mio used to divide opposition parties not knowing behind the scene the coalition was forming. I believe that we can do the same way the Kenyans did.
Mao reasoned that he can tell us authoritatively that he is the only opposition leader who is talking to everybody amicable. Ugandans know Dr. Kizza is a decoy for Museveni, but sometime you need not necessary undermine a leader; you only have to implement your agenda and leave them to destroy themselves.
Col. Dr. Kizza is facing judgment from the people of Uganda, he is virtually on trial, and Ugandans are the jury. It’s up to him to proof that his struggles are indeed the struggle for the people of Uganda.
For some of us, we have conflicts of interest, but we should not judge him, we can only be the witness to share with Uganda people what we know.
